two at once
fergot to mention.. the first cast i made has sort of issues with respect to the top of it.. but it looked reasonable.. i shaved the top a bit and the new one from that cast i will not be as scared to shave the top (assuming i can get them out without breaking agin).. i think i have it down:
1) read the instructions with respect to the proper water:plaster ratios and use measuring spoons! (sheesh) i think that made the plaster less fragile
2) be very careful with the motor oil.. i paint it on real real thin inside the casts.. the first casts were all green with the soaked in oil. the latest one has no green tint because i was careful with the oil
3) when taking the barrier out of the cast, scape with a razorblade and/or exacto knife. pry
the cast open, and then slide the barrier out rather than pulling out out.. end first, not bottom first.
