i have become obsessed with understanding geologic time. i saw a discovery channel show called "before the dinosaurs" that peeped me on the carboniferous period. oxygen levels were higher so modern day insects were huge. it would be an interesting scientific experiment to try to grow modern day insects under hyperbaric oxygenation to see if they would grow big. of course that could turn into a real freekshow nightmare if it werked ! {:D
the carboniferous, it turns out is split into two periods, the mississipian coming first, and the pennsylvanian coming next. is this supposed to imply that southerners are less evolved than northerners??
