big ass icebergs
i was at the earth science library with a gigantic pile of books. i was mostly reading a book called "terra antarctica" (it had an additional subtitle that i ferget) and it spurred me to make my pile of books higher to get atlases for land area figures of france (ross ice shelf: 191 000 sq mile, france: 212 000 square miles)

in the book the guy talks about a delaware sized iceberg named B15 that broke off of the ross ice shelf and affected the environment around mc murdo station. i had to get a differnt atlas that treated the united states independently and found
that rhode island is about 1000 square miles while delaware is about 1900 square miles. the larssen ice shelf that broke up on the antarctic peninsula was the size of rhode island, so indeed this new B15 is the biggest ever.
