Maybe I goofed by doing a mergemaster -p before I began with the steps deliniated in /usr/src/Makefile
After that, the steps are as follows:
make buildworld make kernel (did this twice because it looked funny when was done) reboot -s (actually pressed 4 at the devil prompt) mergemaster -p (finished after many many space bars and return keys as depicted in the vast lion's share of these pictures) make installworld
FAILED!!! (depicted)
therefore, I swapped out my HD and am running on an old HD. On the only HD I am still running:
$ uname -a FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE #0: Fri Jan 12 11:05:30 UTC 2007 root@dessler.cse.buffalo.edu:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SMP i386 $
the final steps would be:
make delete-old mergemaster -U make delete-old-libs
currently, the uname -a on the hardrive that I was trying to update is now showing FreeBSD 7.0
