David Erickson - SF Muni Duct Banks January 7. 2003

It is now 14 months after the San Francisco Muni Duct Banks Sewer Pipe collapse in November of 2001, The Muwekma Ohlone Sanctuary is still not restored. Thousands of hours and dollars of community volunteer donations have been implemented. The Muwekma Ohlone Sanctuary has forfeited $75,000 in grant awards from both the EPA and the MOCD. Many local community, parks and educational organizations, and scientists have not been able to utilize these grant finances last year. Furthermore, these grants cannot receive extensions.
Most tragic, is that Muni legal representatives for the habitat restoration process have sidetracked and minimalized the current requestions for habitat restoration costs.
It is precisely this sort of community/government process that makes one wonder if the original concept of a united states democracy is currently available to US Citizens
