BEST INTERACTIVE MACHINE ART THAT CAN KILL YOU !! 8/1/02
Unlike the robots you see on TV, SEEMEN's machines let you feel the tension of pneumatic joints and cylinders, the rumble, heat, percussion and ignition of pyrotechnics and hear the whir of electric motors as you ponder the flesh of your own mortality.
Their shows come only occasionally, and often are staged at obscure locations with minimal notice. There, in groups of 60 or 70, spectators-participants are required to sign releases before being hustled into a warehouse where they meet and mix with the macabre devices created by Kal Spelletich and his band of fellow machine artists. SEEMEN shows allow the audience to operate their devices like the LEVITATOR: you attach a respiration sensor to your chest, and as you breathe it lifts you 5' in the air with an inhale, to regain terra firma all you must do is to remember to exhale. All the while a halo of fire pulses over your head with your breathing.
Shows typically cost $10.00 and are found via the groups website
