3rd FAILED SECA PROPOSAL and then some!
Thank you so much for submitting an application for the 2006
SECA Art Award. During the slide review sessions that were held
this week, SECA members and SFMOMA curators looked at the
work of over 210 artists recommended to us by Bay Area arts
professionals and SECA members, where we saw an impressive
range of very talented artists working in our midst. From this
group, 31 artists were selected for studio visits. Regretfully, you
were not among the artists chosen for studio visits this time
around.
Perhaps the most rewarding aspect of the slide review stage of
the Art Award process is the chance to be brought up to date
with the work of familiar artists working in the Bay Area, and to
be introduced to newer voices. For this, we are very grateful to
you.
Again, thank you for taking the time prepare your submission
materials. Your slides will be returned to you shortly. We wish
you continuing success with your work.
With all best wishes,
Sincerely,
D**k D***sler and J**n H***er

I hope you are well, Kal. Raman and I have made our selections for this show, eight artists in total, after considering about twenty-five. I hope we’ll get to collaborate in the future – I wouldn’t have invited you if I didn’t respect your work, but I don’t think it’s going to fit in this show. I look forward to hopefully catching up with you soon.
