GOOD OLE GREENPEACE
Greenpeace was started by a couple of Quakers who pointed their boat, intent on bearing witness, to ground zero of a nuclear test, Greenpeace has done some of the most effective non-violent direct action the world has ever seen. A worldwide organization with nearly 3 million members, they bear witness to the atrocities of the environmental holocaust that we are currently living through. Visit

Greenpeace has put their boats and bodies between nuclear tests, whaling ships, harp seal killers, toxic waste dumpers, and drift net fishers. They have been successful in many of their campaigns - the ban on commercial whaling (although Japan still does it for "science"), the nuclear test ban treaty, the removal of genetically engineered foods from European foods (it's still in American foods, inorganic corn and soy), and many, many others. They haven't been in the news as much as the used to be - but they are ramping up for some big campaigns and more grassroots actions.
